Hospiscare provides specialist end of life care to patients and their families living with life-limiting illnesses across Exeter, Mid and East Devon. Hospiscare relies on the support of our community to generate 81% of the income needed to fund our care. This ensures that end-of-life care and family support is delivered at no cost to our patients and their loved ones.
Hospiscare has been supporting people with a life-limiting illness for more than 40 years. They’ve expanded their area over that time and now cover Exeter, Mid and East Devon. If you’ve been diagnosed with any type of terminal illness, their expert doctors and nurses are here to help. Services include support at home, a specialist palliative care ward, day hospices and end-of-life care.
The lasting effects of the pandemic have had a significant impact on the charities income, with your help we hope the Mail Trail will be part of their recovery.
Hospiscare support over 2,000 people each year, in some of the hardest times possible. As a local charity, they need to raise around £8 million a year to continue to provide their care, relying on the generous support of local people and communities. You may think Hospiscare receives government funding – but they only get 18% funding from the NHS. The rest has to be raised from donations – every single year.
